Walking
The most simple form of transportation seems to be the one that is most overlooked. Walking is healthy, it does absolutely no harm to the environment, and it COMPLETELY eliminates the worry of traffic jams and parking! Studies show that walking 60 minutes a day, five days week increases one's overall health and also increases life expectancy. The only thing you need to walk wherever you want to go is yourself and maybe a good pair of walking shoes.
Zip Cars
Zip Cars is a "carsharing" company, rather than a car rental company. Once a person becomes a member, they are given a "Zipcard" which allows them access to the specific vehicle they have reserved at their allotted reservation time. Members can reserve a vehicle via phone, internet, or even from their iPhone. Unlike typical car rental services, a vehicle can be rented by the hour or by the day, and once a person becomes a Zip Car member, they are eligible to rent cars in any city where Zip Cars are available. Some of the perks of a Zip Car reservation include; insurance, a gas card, up to fifteen dollar reimbursement for typical car maintenance such as car washes. Zip car will also reimburse their members if they have to purchase gas from a station where the gas card provided is not accepted.
Bicycles
The model of a bicycle that was invented in 1817 was called "the walking machine" and it was very similar to the bicycles we know today except that instead of pedals, you would push your feet off the ground in order to make the machine move. The "walking machine" was made entirely of wood.
Later versions of the bicycle featured pedals, were made of metal, and eventually evolved into the bicycles you see on the street every day. Bicycles are a healthy and eco-friendly form of transportation. They almost eliminate the common problem of traffic jams and parking. Bicycles are also cheaper than motor vehicles, and also save tons of money because instead of being powered by gas, they are powered by you!
